Terms of use

What you can expect, and what we don't promise

Short, and in the same plain English as the rest of the site. If a term here is unclear, that's a defect and we want to hear about it.

Nothing here is advice

TreasuryClear is a reference. It is not financial, tax, investment, accounting, or legal advice, and reading it does not make us your advisor, your broker, your accountant, or your attorney. No advisory or fiduciary relationship is created by reading this site, emailing us, or following a link from it.

Every figure here describes a general case. Yours depends on facts we don't have: your books, your collateral, your entity, your state, and your history. Confirm anything you plan to act on with a licensed professional who has seen your numbers before you sign, file, or borrow.

A grid of nine roles each crossed out: a bank, a lender, a loan broker, a mortgage broker, an investment adviser, a broker-dealer, a tax preparer, an accounting firm, a law firm.
What this site is not. It's a publisher of general information, the way a newspaper's money section is. Nothing here is an offer, an application for credit, or advice tailored to you. Editorial illustration, TreasuryClear.

Figures come with no warranty

We check every rate against a primary source, we date it, and we re-read those sources quarterly. That is a real standard, and it is still not a guarantee. Rates move daily, programs lapse, agencies rewrite their guidance, and Congress changes the credits. A page that was correct the day it was checked can be wrong by the time you read it, which is why each one shows you when it was last verified and where the number came from.

The site is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site is error-free, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components. If you spot an error, tell us and we'll fix it.

What we are not

TreasuryClear is a publisher. We are not a bank, a lender, a loan broker, a mortgage broker, an investment adviser, a broker-dealer, a tax preparer, an accounting firm, or a law firm, and we are not licensed or registered as any of them. Nothing here is an offer or solicitation to lend, borrow, buy, or sell anything, and nothing here is an application for credit.

Our content is general information published for a broad audience, the way a newspaper's money section is. It is not tailored to you and cannot be, because we do not know your situation. Any calculator or estimate on this site produces a general illustration from the numbers you type, not a quote, an offer, an approval, or a promise of terms from anyone.

You decide, and you carry the risk

Every financial and tax decision you make is yours. You are responsible for verifying anything here with a licensed professional who has reviewed your specific circumstances before you act on it. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you assume all risk from using this site or relying on anything published on it.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TreasuryClear, its operators, and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, lost savings, or lost business, arising from your use of or inability to use this site, even if we were advised such damages were possible. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the site is limited to one hundred US dollars (US$100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this may not apply to you; nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

You'll cover claims you cause

If your misuse of this site, your breach of these terms, or your violation of a law or a third party's rights leads to a claim against us, you agree to indemnify and hold TreasuryClear and its operators harmless from that claim, including reasonable legal costs.

Referral and affiliate links

Some outbound links pay us a fee if you transact. They never change your price and they never buy coverage. Every arrangement is named on the disclosure page and in the footer of every page. A partner's presence on this site is not a recommendation for your situation, and it is never a substitute for reading their actual terms.

Links to other sites

We link to primary sources so you can check our work. Government and third-party sites have their own terms and privacy policies, and we have no control over what they publish or how they change.

Using our content

Editorial text and original charts on TreasuryClear belong to TreasuryClear. Quote us, cite us, and argue with us: excerpts for journalism, research, teaching, or commentary are welcome with a link back to the page. Republishing a page in full, or feeding the site to a scraper to reassemble it elsewhere, is not.

Photographs and footage are used under the license named in each credit and belong to their photographers. Those licenses are between you and the source, so follow the credit before reusing an image.

The fine print that still matters

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and you agree the state and federal courts located in Delaware are the place for any dispute that isn't resolved informally first. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our not enforcing a term once is not a waiver of it. These terms, with the privacy and disclosure pages, are the whole agreement between us about the site.

Changes

When these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. We don't backdate. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
